Cartoon Network.com, is one of the leading portals with premium contents for children. It monthly gathers millions of people from all over the world. The Portal belongs to the Turner Group. It is the version of the children's signal on the Internet. Its main content is interactive (games and applications) and information on the program schedule.
ACCOMPLISHED TASK
Design, Art and Development of Multiplayer Racing Game
OBJECTIVE
To develop a multiplayer car race game that allows cartoon network users to play among themselves from their computers in real time. The game must be developed on an Internat platform. The players will be able to choose among several motor racing teams that belong to CN shows. Besides, it will include a ranking and credit system to buy auto parts to enhace the cars. The development must provide for an SMS action
DIFFICULTY
- To establish a permanent link in real time during the whole race among the players' computers. To keep a ranking system, purchase/sale of auto parts and develop an SMS action that interacts with the game.
- To create/develop the art of cars and auto parts, which should relate to every show. Integration of all the functions and menu actions in a use interface.
IMPLEMENTED SOLUTION
- The game was developed in its client part with Flash technology, integrated to the Director. The database was created on Oracle. The back end ranking administrator, login, sale and purchase of auto parts were equally developed in Java. As an action of SMS the possibility was implemented to...
- For the development of the art of every show and their auto parts, we took the Style guides as a base, we designed the models with the direct supervision of Cartoon Network.
- An intuitive navigation interface was designed so that every visitor could have an organized and agile access. The art design was based on Cartoon style.
RESULT
The two versions of the game were an extraordinary success in numbers and visitors. Formula Cartoon 1 in 2005 attracted more than 2.000.000 millions of users. This version had only two competitors on the track.
Formula Cartoon 2 allowed three players to race. In this last version more than 80 000 000 million people competed in motor races.
